Things you need to be doing if you're not already:
- Holding doors open for other people — not like, out of your way douchebag status — just “I see you there three seconds behind me, and I’m going to open this wide enough that it doesn’t shut at the exact moment you reach it.”
- Responding when someone in a service position says “Have a good day!” or thanks you for something — and not just a one word response, either. Give em something genuine. Have a convo.
- Saying thank you and please and how are you.
- Smiling. Now, again, not walking around smiling all the time — but if you make eye contact with a stranger, give em a little smile action. Acknowledge one another.(This is my favorite, because I hat people who do not smile!!!! SMILE PLEASE!!!)
- Say thank you to your teacher every. single. time you leave class. Even if you hated the lesson, even if you fell asleep, even if they were grumpy, even if they failed you. Almost all teachers *could* be doing something else, but instead they chose to teach. Make it worth their while.
